Road & Rail Services, the Louisville, Kentucky-based leading provider of rail and automotive services in North America, is celebrating it’s 30 year anniversary.
Founded on June 6, 1987 by brothers Tom Gerstle, CEO, and Pete Gerstle, Executive Vice President, Road & Rail Services has grown both its service offerings and customer base, currently serving 52 locations in 18 states with over 1,500 associates. Road & Rail Services’ initial service offerings included repairs and inspections on highway trailers, RoadRailer trailers, auto racks, boxcars and more. Over three decades, they have continued to adapt and expand their service offerings to include automotive handling, trans-loading of various commodities, track services, rail car services, train services and more. Road & Rail Services’ first customers included Emerald Industrial Leasing, Norfolk Southern, Triple Crown Services, CSX Transportation and Toyota.
In the years since, they have deepened those relationships and broadened their customer base to include some of the biggest names in the automotive sector, railroad industry and beyond, including Honda, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Union Pacific, Canadian Pacific, The Mosaic Company and more. Maintaining their priorities of efficiency, safety and commitment to customer service, Road & Rail Services has earned over 30 service and safety related awards since 2008 alone.
