The logistics services provider AFG Allgemeine Fahrzeugübernahme-Gesellschaft mbH is becoming part of the MOSOLF Group and the management team at AFG is also being broadened, with the appointment of Egon Christ (pictured) as Managing Director.
MOSOLF is enhancing its expertise in the field of releasing solutions through the purchase of the outbound logistics specialist, which has its headquarters in Rüsselsheim and business sites at Opel in Rüsselsheim and Eisenach as well as at BMW in Garching and Regensburg.
The vehicle logistics specialist and system services provider MOSOLF has acquired all the company shares in AFG Allgemeine Fahrzeugübernahme-Gesellschaft mbH. Operating as a releasing agent at the interface between vehicle manufacturers and freight forwarders, AFG has been coordinating the handling of vehicles from the end of the production line until they are transferred to the transport service companies commissioned by the manufacturer for more than 25 years. AFG uses modular IT solutions, which have been developed in-house, to manage, integrate, visualise and monitor the complete vehicle dispatch process within the field of vehicle distribution. AFG employs about 200 people at its business sites, for whom fundamentally nothing will change as a result of the takeover.
“The purchase of AFG enables our corporate group to gain an experienced, reliable and innovative services provider in the field of outbound logistics. AFG’s IT solutions are well able to complement and expand our new digital process structure to provide greater transparency and efficiency in a sensible manner,” says Dr. Jörg Mosolf, CEO at MOSOLF.
Egon Christ (52) is taking over the position of Managing Director of MOSOLF Transport Solutions GmbH from Dr. Jörg Mosolf and will direct the subsidiary together with Michael Geisinger; Christ and Bernhard Ewe will be jointly responsible for the business operations at AFG Allgemeine Fahrzeugübernahme-Gesellschaft mbH.
Egon Christ will also be responsible for the ongoing development of AFG, its integration within the MOSOLF Group and the expansion of the Releasing Solutions division.
“MOSOLF is gaining a top manager with outstanding expertise in the field of automobile logistics in the person of Egon Christ. With his experience and knowledge, he will support MOSOLF in an outstanding manner as it successfully copes with the new challenges,” says Dr. Jörg Mosolf, CEO at MOSOLF.
Egon Christ brings with him more than thirty years of experience in logistics and supply chain management. The graduate in business management had been working for Daimler AG since 1996 and he bore the overall responsibility for the global transport logistics for all the finished vehicles for 13 of those years. In 2015, he moved to the purchasing department, where he was responsible for the group-wide procurement of all research and development services until recently.
