The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR), is investing approximately $14.3 million in 2016 on construction and improvement projects on its New Orleans Subdivision.
Rail, cross tie and crossing improvements are planned between Port Allen and Simmesport, Louisiana and a rail project is planned in Norco, Louisiana. The work is expected to begin on November 15 and continue through late-December. Communities that KCSR will be working through include Norco, Port Allen, Glynn, New Roads, Morganza, Batchelor, Innis, Lettsworth and Simmesport. In total, the project work will include the replacement of 4.5 miles of rail, 52,000 cross ties, as well as improvements to over 100 road crossings.
“KCS, through its US and Mexican subsidiaries, continues to invest in capital projects to expand network capacity, keep maintenance in a regular and healthy cycle, and enhance the safety of our operation,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Patrick J. Ottensmeyer.
“These investments also help us be an economic growth partner to our customers and the communities through which we operate.”
KCS offers seamless transportation throughout North America and beyond with service to intermodal ramps, ports and transload centres and through strategic partnerships with all Class I railroads and many short line railroads.
