GEFCO, a global provider of industrial supply chain services and the European leader in automotive logistics, has increased refurbishment capacity and invested in new equipment at its Corby finished vehicle logistics centre to support a substantial increase in new business and to deliver continued efficiencies.
The 43-acre Corby facility, in the East Midlands, provides fleet operators, manufacturers and rental companies with a range of new and used vehicle solutions such as defleet refurb programmes, new vehicle preparation and third party accessory fitments. It has increased onsite defleet capacity from 12,000-21,000 within a year as a result of new business with key vehicle manufacturers.
The new investments, which include the introduction of two additional paint booths and an expansion within the technical operation, will enable GEFCO to achieve greater production volumes and better flexibility to meet customer demands. GEFCO is hiring 20 additional technical and mechanical roles in the local area to support the site’s expansion.
A commitment to delivering innovative solutions ahead of competitors has also seen the logistics provider introduce the latest in alloy wheel refurbishment equipment at the site.
Having the equipment onsite will enable significant reductions in lead times for this part of the refurbishment process.
