The Ministry of Defence has announced DHL as one of the winners of its Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Gold Award, the highest accolade for organisations which have signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant.
DHL first signed the Covenant in August 2014, with the aim of helping service leaders and reservists integrate into civilian life, with fulfilling roles throughout the organisation. Military veterans often possess valuable skills for a variety of supply chain roles in transport, analytics and leadership.
The Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) was created by former Prime Minister David Cameron and rewards organisations that aim to support veterans, military spouses and cadet instructors, as well as reservists.

DHL derives considerable benefits from employing a large number of reservists and ex-regular members of the Armed Forces community. Our employees also raise substantial sums for Armed Forces charities. I hope this award acts as the catalyst for further engagement with, and support for, the Armed Forces community and inspires other organisations to do the same”.
Sean Reilly, Operations Manager, 22 years Royal Artillery WO2 said: “I joined DHL in January following a six month work placement organised with Mission Motorsport and I am very grateful for the opportunity that DHL has given me. Working for DHL has given me the confidence to get on in life and realize that although what I did in the Army was amazing, I now have an opportunity to have a successful second career.”
