AMCO Services International continues to support its close relationship with the UK’s booming automotive sector with the development of 120,000 square feet of high tech, customs-bonded warehouse space in the Midlands.
Specifications for the new facility, due to be operational in November 2016, make impressive reading: a 10.7 acre site, over 25,000 pallet spaces, eight high bay dock levers, two floor access bays, 10,000 square feet of office space, 120 car parking spaces, large trailer storage area and VNA racking. The development, built to the highest specifications, features some of the latest environmentally sensitive features, including LED passive lighting.
“This fantastic facility, at Acanthus Park in Redditch, will be invaluable in supporting continued growth in the automotive sector,” explained Barry Lumsden, AMCO’s Business Development Manager. “The UK’s vehicle manufacturers have performed remarkably over the past few years, and AMCO is proud to continue to play a part in that success. It will also be a fantastic resource for many other manufacturing sectors, including Aerospace.”
Following the UK’s motor manufacturing extraordinary performance in 2015, it is has continued to grow at a remarkable pace during 2016. According to The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), the number of cars built in February increased by more than 13% from a year earlier –146,955 cars, about 17,000 more than in the same month last year. Industry analysts are predicting that output will reach record levels of around two million cars by 2017, overtaking the 1972 record of 1.92 million.
