GAC Shipping has appointed C Krishnakumar as the General Manager, Logistics Services for its Chennai office to take care of the growing logistics demand in the South India market, with a primary focus on the pharmaceutical and automotive industries. Krishnakumar brings over 23 years of hands-on shipping and logistics experience to this role.
Transformations in the Indian logistics sector have presented many opportunities to providers of transport and warehousing services. Mark Delaney, GAC Shipping India’s Managing Director says Krishnakumar’s coming aboard is timely. “We see a growing demand for logistics services in South India including Chennai. Under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, the development of the overall logistics network is gradually taking shape and the port city of Chennai is emerging as one of the country’s major logistics hubs. This bodes well for logistics services providers like GAC. Krishna and his team can look forward to exciting times ahead.”
Krishnakumar is optimistic that the ‘Make in India’ project will bring about significant improvements to the industrial belts in Tamil Nadu/Karnataka. “We are committed to providing the best logistics solutions in line with our global standards to the EXIM trade, with additional focus on the automotive, engineering and pharmaceutical industries in and around Chennai. India is currently the sixth largest automobile producer in the world and is expected to become the third largest pharmaceutical market by 2020 in terms of incremental growth. Leveraging the GAC Group’s global network, GAC Shipping India is well placed to meet the growing demands of these sectors with our integrated logistics solutions, as well as our profound local knowledge and expertise.”
