The supply chain solutions company, CHEP, has welcomed a new Vice President for their EMEA Automotive business.
Murray Gilder (pictured third from left above receiving the award for Environmental ustainability at the 2017 Automotive Global Awards hosted by Automotive Purchasing and Supply Chain magazine and Three6Zero) now takes overall responsibility for the financial and commercial performance of CHEP’s automotive business within the EMEA region.
Murray Gilder joins CHEP from Exova Limited, a highly respected materials testing business, specialising in providing a comprehensive range of materials & product qualification testing, consulting and certification services to the international Aerospace; Fire & Building Products; Infrastructure & Environmental; Oil & Gas; and Transportation & Industrials sectors.
As Director of Oil, Gas & Industrials, his previous role included full accountability for the UK, Italy, and the Netherlands. Amongst other roles, he also led the sales team and headed up the European Finance team at Exova.
During Murray’s time at Exova Limited, he has built up quite an impressive portfolio. He successfully lead the company’s diversification from a purely oil and gas business into various other sectors, reducing the company’s reliance on oil and gas by 30%. During the oil price crisis, Murray re-engineered the business to remain competitive in a market that was demanding more cost effective solutions.
Speaking about the Automotive supply chain, Murray Gilder – who holds an Honours degree in Accountancy and Business from the University of Edinburgh – says there is a definite shift within the Automotive supply chain: “There is a growing demand for us to be so much more than mere packaging providers, but rather true partners able to supply complete solutions, able to traverse the full supply chain.
Another important trend is the embedding of digital technologies – these are becoming key differentiators, especially as we see electric and hybrid cars becoming the norm. These trends will transform the industry, and I believe that CHEP is uniquely positioned to play a leading role in this transition. I’m excited to be part of an innovative and truly sustainable organization such as this.”
