German supplier Kufner has demonstrated an innovative transport security system with an alert function that is built-in to a fabric.
Under the new brand logo T I P TEXTILE INNOVATIONS PRODUCTS Kufner will launch various smart, textile-based products for a variety of solutions and applications. An innovative transport security system, which was developed with cooperation partner go11save, will be the first product in that line, showcased for the first time at Techtextil. This is a cut-resistant fabric fitted with sensors and a GPS/GSM (Global Positioning System) tracking function. Freight theft and unauthorised access to goods in transit causes Europe-wide damages of about €8 billion ($8.96 billion) each year.
Kufner’s T I P security system provides effective support. Valuable freight, from documents or computing equipment to large-scale, even oversized, items, can be effectively protected against theft and unauthorised access with this sensor-based fabric. In case of damage due to mechanical or chemical impact, an alert is triggered that can be forwarded upon request to the nearest police station including exact positioning indication via an app. The alert technology is compatible with various systems so that individual scenarios can be created according to customer needs.
Also recently shown by Kufner was XShield (pictured above), a material designed to protect items from electro-magnetic radiation and unauthorised access to RFID data. This may be applied to various market segments: from fashion and leisure wear, home textiles, automotive, military, sports, medical to construction and electronics industries.
